Q: When did you first start writing? When did you start writing erotica?
I always loved to read, and growing up, was a voracious and advanced-beyond-my-years reader. As a child, I liked writing little mini-stories. My mother was a big Taylor Caldwell fan, and when she informed me in a not-so-subtle way that Ms. Caldwell wrote her first novel at the age of thirteen, I took the bait. I started mine when I was eleven or twelve, and wrote a little over a hundred pages if I recall. Not having an outline, however, I reached a point where I had no idea what would happen next, and stopped. This, when I was failing English because I hated school and refused to do the work. She tried to get me credit for it, but I don’t remember if she succeeded. I never finished it, and have lost the complete manuscript, but I have some pages of it still.
I wrote the prerequisite angsty bad poetry in my teen years, and from there moved on to writing lyrics. I wrote short stories here and there as well, mostly horror and fantasy. I was a huge H.P. Lovecraft fan starting in my early teens, and also count Stephen King, Robin McKinley, and Philip Pullman amongst a huge list of influences to this day.
It was actually after I came out gay that I started writing erotica for myself and for my lovers, but I never considered publishing until I found something online about self-publishing. I started independently publishing erotica shorts in January 2012, and am now looking at a novel-in-progress (first of a trilogy, in fact) in addition to my shorts.
Q: Have you been published elsewhere?
While in college, I was published in school newspapers and a number of student compilations. I used to do music reviews and band interviews, which were published online under a different name. I have a short called “Icing on the Cake” which will be in editor Rachel Kramer Bussel’s compilation, The Big Book of Orgasm, being released by Cleis Press in September 2013. I have also had an article published at PhillyGayCalendar.com. There might be more, but that’s what I can recall off the top of my head.
Q: Where do you get your ideas?
A: I have a very dirty mind and a limitless imagination. I’m also extremely creative! I keep a running idea file and add to it when inspiration strikes. My ideas are from dreams, personal experience, things I’ve seen or read, fantasies, and lots of other places.
Q: What do you have planned for the future?
A: I have a number of novels in me, that’s for sure. I won’t be limiting myself to erotica, either. I have ideas for romances, historical fiction, fantasy, horror, and more. I also plan on continuing to write and independently publish erotica shorts. I hope to turn writing into my career, though at present it is part-time for me.
Q: May I interview you for my website? May I review your titles?
A: You may! Please email me, I’m more than happy to fulfill interview requests. I will also provide ARCs to bloggers.
Q: What software do you recommend?
Q: I think you’re awesome! Let me buy you flowers/jewelry/sex toys/kittens/drinks!
A: That’s not a question, but thank you! How about you go check out my Amazon Wish List?
